Tyre Cost / km
Workshop & Consumables → Tyre Cost / km compares tyre brands on the only figure that matters for purchasing: what a kilometre of running actually costs on each brand.
Reading the table
One row per brand:
| Column | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Tyres | How many of that brand have cost history |
| Total cost | Everything spent on those tyres |
| Distance | Total kilometres they have run |
| Cost / km | The derived rate, shown in cents per kilometre (e.g. 45.70c) |
The Fleet total row derives the fleet-wide rate from total cost over total distance — not an average of the per-brand rates — so it is safe to use as your benchmark figure.
Why cents? Cost per kilometre is a fractional rate, so it is shown in cents (e.g. 45.70c) rather than Rand to keep the precision readable.
What to look for
- A cheap purchase price means nothing if the brand's Cost / km is high — this table is the corrective.
- A brand with few tyres and an extreme rate may just be early in its life cycle; judge brands once they have meaningful distance behind them.
