Balance Sheet

Finance → Balance Sheet shows an employer's financial position as at a chosen date: what it owns, what it owes, and the equity between them.

Choosing the view

Pick the legal entity in the Employer picker and the date in As at.

Reading the statement

  • Assets — each asset account and Total assets.
  • Liabilities — each liability account and Total liabilities.
  • Equity — the equity accounts plus a Retained earnings line carrying the period's net profit that hasn't yet been closed to equity, then Total equity.

Assets should equal liabilities plus equity — the same ledger discipline the Trial Balance verifies with its balance check.

What to look for

  • Retained earnings moves with trading — it reflects the same result the Income Statement reports for the period.
  • Duty and VAT liabilities visible here tie back to the operational registers: Duty Accruals and VAT201.
