Cross-Border Permits
Compliance → Cross-Border Permits manages C-BRTA cross-border road transport permits. A permit is issued for one specific vehicle and authorises foreign legs to one destination country — no SA operator may lawfully run a cross-border trip without a permit effective for the destination country on the travel date.
Recording a permit
- Pick the vehicle in the Vehicle picker.
- In Record permit, capture:
- Destination country — the SADC destination the permit authorises (Botswana, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia, Eswatini, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Malawi, Tanzania, DR Congo, Angola).
- Permit number (e.g.
CB-2026-04521) and Issuing authority (typically C-BRTA). - Valid from / Valid until — the validity window.
- Notes — optional.
Permit status
Each issued permit shows its status as of today:
| Badge | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Effective (green) | Today falls inside the validity window — the vehicle may run to that country |
| Pending (amber) | The window hasn't started yet |
| Expired (red) | The window has passed — renew before the next trip |
Remove a mis-captured permit with the ✕ on its row.
What to watch
- Before assigning a vehicle to a cross-border trip, confirm it holds an Effective permit for the destination country — and that it will still be effective on the travel date, not just today.
- Permits nearing expiry don't warn you here by themselves — make renewals part of the weekly compliance routine alongside Expiring Documents.
